Essential Job Duties

The successful candidate will assist in environmental life cycle modeling and analysis of four alternative building designs. Specifically, the researcher will help perform environmental life cycle analyses to quantify the environmental benefits and burdens of constructing four “functionally-equivalent” non-residential buildings from cross-laminated timber (CLT) and several alternative materials built to local code. Opportunities will also be available to become involved in national US Forest Service programs.

The candidate will also perform analysis on the wood supply chain, including forest growth modeling and alternative supply models.

Other Work/Responsibilities
Minimum Experience/Education

Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., M.D., D.V.M., Sc.D.) in appropriate field awarded no more than five (5) years from initial date of postdoctoral appointment.

Departmental Required Skills


Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

• Demonstrated experience with environmental Life Cycle analysis
• Demonstrated experience with commercially available life cycle analysis tools and data
• Experience with uncertainty analysis.
• Demonstrated experience in publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting research findings at scientific conferences , with a focus on life cycle analysis of materials or building systems
• Knowledge of issues and processes related to natural resources, environmental management and sustainability, or building systems modeling;
• Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to cooperate closely with the group
