Essential Job Duties

NCSU Libraries IT Department is seeking motivated undergraduate students to join our Tech Support team. IT Student Technicians work individually and collaboratively to assist Library patrons and staff with technology issues. IT Student Technicians are entrusted with a high level of responsibility and have the opportunity to develop creative solutions to technical challenges. Duties include: diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues, assisting with new hardware and software setup, maintaining IT assets and supporting high tech spaces. This position also includes some shift-based time on the NCSU Libraries Service Desk – the primary source of contact for Libraries staff encountering technical issues. Successful candidates will gain real-world, hands on experience while working alongside IT staff, supporting best-in-class enterprise technology solutions at D.H. Hill, James B. Hunt, and NCSU branch libraries.

Minimum Experience/Education

Must be enrolled full-time as either an Undergraduate student.

Departmental Required Skills

Strong customer service and communication skills. Creative problem solving. Ability to learn new skills via hands on experience with new technology and through technical documentation.

Must be able to lift 35 lbs.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

Experience interacting directly with customers including Students, Staff and Faculty via phone or in person. Ability to document customer interaction, gather technical information and escalate issues to appropriate technical staff when necessary.
