The Sociology & Anthropology Program at North Carolina State University is a progressive program, dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, extension and outreach. Essential Job Duties

The Assistant Professor will teach two courses per semester. The Assistant Professor is expected to work successfully with students, faculty and other possible partners and participate in faculty governance. The position is for teaching, research and service. This position will contribute primarily to the Anthropology program area with 75% of the position in the Sociology and Anthropology Department. In anthropology, candidates should be prepared to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in bioarchaeology, human osteology, and biological anthropology theory.

The Assistant Professor will work 25%, including teaching one course per year in the Science, Technology and Society program, in Interdisciplinary Studies at NCSU.

Minimum Education/Experience

Ph.D. in Anthropology or related area by start date (anticipated 8/16/2018).

Departmental Required Skills

- Promise of, or a strong record of, research and publication and extramural research funding.

- A strong commitment to student mentorship and excellence in teaching.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

An active research and publication agenda in bioarchaeology.

Priority will be given to candidates whose research areas complement existing program strengths, including, but not limited to: health and disease, paleodemography, paleopathology, or dental anthropology. The Anthropology program at NCSU values a holistic approach, and candidates with the ability to reach across sub-disciplinary boundaries are especially welcome.
