The Cherokee Tribal lands are located in the Appalachian Mountains of Western North Carolina and are home to the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI). The land is fragmented into more than thirty parcels, scattered across five of the most remote and mountainous counties in North Carolina. The United States Government holds the land in trust for the EBCI. The largest tract is the Qualla Boundary, where the town of Cherokee is located.
