The purpose of Student Health Services (SHS) is to provide appropriate, affordable, accessible and high quality primary health care to eligible students, and provide a comprehensive disease-prevention and health promotion program in the NC State University community. The major function of the SHS is that of providing outpatient care to over 35,000 NC State students. Some level of medical care is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the academic year beginning in August and ending in May. Essential Job Duties

The Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN) will provide comprehensive evidenced based nutrition care services to eligible students at NC State University. The RDN will conduct patient assessments, interpret biochemical and clinical data, establish goals using the nutrition care process, provide nutrition education and counseling, and monitor progress toward behavior change. As a member of the multidisciplinary team at Student Health Services, the RDN will work with providers in the medical clinic, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care. This role requires active participation in the Eating Disorder Treatment Team and Diabetes Treatment Team. The RDN will be involved in planning, implementing, and evaluating special events, workshops, and nutrition lectures in collaboration with campus partners.

Minimum Education/Experience

Requires Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, or related area and completion of an ACEND approved coordinated undergraduate program or dietetic internship and CDR registration and licensed as a registered dietitian in the State of North Carolina.
1 year experience with nutrition counseling in an outpatient setting

Departmental Required Skills

- Experience providing Medical Nutrition Therapy for weight loss, hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes (type 1 and 2), PCOS, vitamin/mineral deficiencies, food allergies, gastrointestinal disorders, and sports nutrition.
- Strong knowledge base and passion for treating clients with disordered eating patterns.
- Adept at creating educational handouts, presentations, and leading nutrition workshops.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work as a collaborative member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully work with a diverse community and provide services from a non-judgmental perspective
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google
- Practical application of motivational interviewing
- Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) software

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or Certified in Adult Weight Management or Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian (CEDRD)

Required License or Certification

- Licensed Dietitian in the state of North Carolina (by date of hire)
- CPR certification or within 90 days of hire
