Essential Job Duties

Position will be responsible for teaching the Financial Mathematics MA/FIM548 course. The position is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction This includes writing exam questions, assigning homework problems, providing solutions, grading exams and homework assignments as well as submitting the grades for the students. The position will offer office hours to students for class related questions.

The position will give lectures to students on the following topics:
Monte Carlo (MC) methods for accurate option pricing, hedging and risk management.
Modeling using stochastic asset models [e.g. geometric Brownian motion] and parameter estimation.
Stochastic models, including use of random number generators, random paths and discretization methods [e.g. Euler-Maruyama method], and variance reduction.
Implementation using Matlab.
Incorporation of the latest developments regarding MC methods and their uses in Finance.

Other Work/Responsibilities
Minimum Education/Experience

Requires master’s degree, an equivalent degree, or equivalent professional experience.

Departmental Required Skills

Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching and mentoring students. Previous experience teaching college mathematics courses in a university setting. Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

PhD in Applied Mathematics, Financial Engineering or related fields from a major university

Teaching experience from a major university

Research experience in related fields

Experience in supervising graduate students

Required License or Certification
