Primary Function of Organizational Unit

North Carolina Cooperative Extension gives our residents easy access to the resources and expertise at NC State University and NC A&T State University. Through educational programs, publications, and educational events, Cooperative Extension agents deliver unbiased, research-based information to North Carolina citizens.

Essential Job Duties

This position provides program support for 4-H programs including, but not limited to, 4-H School Enrichment Programs, 4-H Afterschool Programs, 4-H clubs, 4-H camps, and 4-H Summer Programs in Yadkin County.

This individual assists in the planning, delivery, evaluation, and marketing of 4-H programs that meet the needs and interests of youth ages 5-18 to engage them in positive life skill development activities. This position also assists in recruiting, training, and coordinating adults and teen volunteers.

Other Work/Responsibilities

Additional duties will include preparing letters, newsletters, fliers, and direct mail pieces; answering telephones, and serving walk-in customers, as needed, for the Yadkin County Extension Center.

Minimum Experience/Education

The minimum requirement for employment with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service (NCCES) is a high-school diploma or equivalent. Advanced training in related fields is preferred.

Departmental Required Skills

Computer literacy; strong oral and written communication skills; the ability to plan, implement, market and evaluate educational programs; a willingness to work as a part of the 4-H staff team; the ability to handle multiple demands and set priorities; experience in managing volunteers and in conducting non-formal group education sessions; and experience teaching or training adult learners.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

Two years post-secondary education is preferred.
