Essential Job Duties

In this three year residency position a qualified candidate will
participate with faculty, staff, and veterinary students in daily
professional activities. Residents will evaluate and diagnose
cytologic and hematologic cases and laboratory data. Attendance and
participation in clinical pathology rounds, case discussions, journal
club, histopathology conferences, house officer rounds, internal
medicine rounds, and completion of a teaching certificate are
required.
Residents are expected to develop proficiency in certain laboratory
techniques and will have laboratory and instructional
responsibilities.
Assignment to clinical pathology service duty for approximately 20-27
weeks/year. Duty includes evaluating cytologic samples; reviewing
blood smears, chemistry data, coagulation data, and urinalysis data;
and consulting with clinicians, students, and researchers about the
interpretation of laboratory results.

Minimum Experience/Education

Requires DVM or equivalent doctorate (e.g., VMD, BVSc) by an American Veterinary Medical Associate (AVMA) Council on Education accredited program, or by a “Recognized School of Veterinary Medicine” as defined by the AVMA.

Departmental Required Skills

Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

Clinical experience is highly desirable

Required License or Certification

Eligible for North Carolina Veterinary Licensure and/or faculty certificate under the supervisor of the NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Health Complex.
