Essential Job Duties

*Please note that this position is a short term job for July – August.

Provide reference and circulation service at the Veterinary Medicine Library Service Desk. Will be responsible for opening or closing the library occasionally. Duties include independently handling library operating functions while providing excellent customer service and meeting the needs of our patrons, including but not limited to performing circulation procedures, providing technical troubleshooting and support, responding to reference questions and referring them as needed, receiving and processing shipments, sending and receiving materials among NCSU Libraries locations, data entry and analysis , and communicating carefully with other staff. Other duties as needed.

Other Work/Responsibilities
Minimum Experience/Education

Enrollment in a graduate level library science program with completion of or enrollment in a basic reference services course. Experience working at a public service point in a library setting.

Departmental Required Skills

Punctuality and reliability. Demonstrated excellence in customer service. Ability to work independently, occasionally with little on-site supervision. Basic reference and library science knowledge and skills.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

Experience working in, demonstrated interest in, or educational background in life sciences and/or health, with undergraduate degree or coursework in a related field preferred. Familiarity with PC and Mac operating systems and comfort with demonstrating technologies or devices to users.
