Essential Job Duties

9-month clinic appointment on the Neurology service, during which the successful Fellow will work alongside a faculty neurologist to provide supervision and oversight for the daily service operations. This will include providing backup for house officers on call for neurology and neurosurgical emergencies. The remaining 3 months will be devoted to gaining additional training in an area of interest to the Fellow. Possibilities include additional training in neurosurgery, electrodiagnostics, neurosurgical navigation system, or clinical research.

Other Work/Responsibilities

The successful Fellow will be expected to participate in formal rounds and journal clubs that are a part of house officer training, as well as sharing responsibility for providing teaching rounds to fourth year veterinary students on the neurology rotation.

Minimum Experience/Education

Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., M.D., D.V.M., Sc.D.) in appropriate field awarded no more than five (5) years from initial date of postdoctoral appointment.

Departmental Required Skills


Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

DVM or equivalent degree, and completion of an ACVIM or ECVN approved residency program in Neurology is required. The successful applicant must have experience in both medical and surgical neurology.

Required License or Certification

Eligibility for veterinary licensure (or faculty certificate) in the State of North Carolina is required.
A valid NC driver’s license or the ability to become licensed within 30 days of employment.
