|Primary Function of Organizational Unit||
The Department of Statistics at North Carolina State University (www.stat.ncsu.edu) is one of the largest in the U.S., with 50 full-time faculty, 180 undergraduate majors, and over 200 graduate students in our on-campus and online programs. It provides a dynamic environment for teaching, research, consulting, and collaborations across disciplines. The Department has a history of integrating undergraduate through postdoctoral research and education and has a strong support staff. The Department is the birthplace of SAS, a co-founder of the nearby National Institute of Statistical Sciences (NISS), and a partner in the NSF-funded Statistical and Applied Mathematical Sciences Institute (SAMSI). Its location in the Research Triangle provides rich interactions with nonprofit, private, and governmental institutions that include a wide array of internships and traineeships at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
|Essential Job Duties||
The position carries responsibilities for teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses, conducting scholarly research, advising students, and contributing to program development and scholarly activities in the department. Quality teaching and research leading to publications in scholarly journals are prerequisites for advancement. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate level courses in statistics. The person in this position is expected to have a nationally recognized research program, demonstrate ability to attract external funding, and is expected to serve as research adviser for doctoral students. The employee is expected to seek external support for research through competitive grants and to communicate the results to the biostatistics, bioinformatics and/or statistics communities by publishing regularly in refereed journals and by presenting at professional meetings and in other departments at NC State and other universities.
Applicant must have a Ph.D. in Statistics or Biostatistics and qualifications for appointment as a tenured associate or full professor.

The successful applicant must have an internationally recognized research program, demonstrated ability to attract external funding, a strong record of mentoring PhD students and post-docs, and a commitment to effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
