Essential Job Duties

• To take notes in lectures, tutorials, seminars and taught classes
• To provide typed notes to the student within 48 hours of the lecture/seminar/tutorial.
• Liaise with student regarding their time-table
• To respond to students’ preferences regarding structure/details and style of notes.
• To inform lecturers of your presence in the class and your role as a note-taker.
• To maintain a professional role as a note-taker – maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Complete and return time sheets required to ensure payment.
• To provide adequate notice to the student and Disability Service if you are unable to attend lecture.
• Contact the Disability office of any changes regarding availability for work, changes in contact details.

Other Work/Responsibilities
  • Assist as scribe for exams, as needed
  • Provide substitute help, as needed
Minimum Experience/Education
Departmental Required Skills

Must be current enrolled NC State Student.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

• Knowledge of subject area
• Ability to make comprehensive and well structured notes
• Experience in note-taking
• Clear, legible handwriting
• Good IT skills (notes will need to be typed)

Required License or Certification

Must complete online note taker training, if accepted for a job.
